Assessment of the 21st edition

The 21st edition of the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography concludes on a positive note. During its 3 weeks, 5000 visitors visited the 28 exhibitions presented this year under the common theme of the extreme. This level of attendance remains stable since last year, and con rms that the Swiss rendezvous for emerging photography has established its place in the spring cultural calendar. The meetings for professionals and for the public also met with remarkable success, underlining the public’s interest in exchange and interaction.

“I am delighted to observe the role of the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography as a unifying event. At exhibitions revealing the full potential of current photography, professionals and the general public came to Biel/Bienne to re ect on the future of photography and to experiment,” said festival director Hélène Joye-Cagnard about this year’s edition.
